  • David Steckel had a goal and an assist, while Michael Nylander collected two helpers for the Capitals, who had a five-game winning streak snapped by the Devils on Saturday. Mike Green scored a goal and assisted on another before leaving in the first period with an undisclosed injury.

    Jose Theodore stopped 28-of-32 shots to get the win.

  • Kyle Wellwood, Ryan Johnson, Pavol Demitra and Daniel Sedin also scored for the Canucks, who are 7-1-2 in their last 10 games. Mattias Ohlund collected three assists, while Taylor Pyatt and Jannik Hansen both recorded two helpers.

    Roberto Luongo made 39 saves to notch his 11th win of the season.

  • Marc Savard registered a goal and three assists, while David Krejci had a goal and two helpers for the Bruins, who have won 10 of their last 12 games and lead the Northeast division with 28 points.

    Phil Kessel scored a goal and assisted on another for Boston, which has won six straight games as the host. Manny Fernandez stopped 25-of-29 shots to pick up the win.

  • Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues announced Wednesday that defenseman Erik Johnson underwent season-ending surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

  • The Capitals had a five-game winning streak halted their last time on the ice, losing the back end of a home-and-home series with the New Jersey Devils. Saturday's shootout loss to the Devils was the opener of the trek and dropped Washington to just 3-4-2 as the visiting team this season.

    The Southeast Division-leading Caps have done most of their damage at home, as they boast a 7-0-1 record at the Verizon Center.

  • The Rangers are leading the East with 30 points and have righted themselves after going 1-4-0 to start the month of November. New York began its three- game winning streak with last Wednesday's 5-2 triumph at New Jersey and followed with back-to-back shootout victories.

    After edging visiting Boston, 3-2, on Saturday, the Blueshirts picked up another home win on Monday, downing Ottawa by a 2-1 score. Nikolai Zherdev scored the lone shootout goal to help the Rangers edge the Sens at MSG.

  • Boston, which leads the Northeast with 26 points, had a five-game winning streak halted by the Eastern Conference-leading New York Rangers on Saturday, but rebounded with a victory in Toronto on Monday night.

    The Bruins have yet to suffer a regulation loss in November, as they've gone 6-0-1, with the lone setback coming in a shootout against the Rangers over the weekend.

  • Klesla was hurt during a November 14 game against Buffalo and is expected to be sidelined for at least a week.

    In 13 games this season, Klesla has one goal and three assists with a plus-two rating.

  • Jarome Iginla and David Moss also scored for the inconsistent Flames, who are now 3-5 since a six-game win streak.

    These two teams will meet in Denver on Thursday.

  • Toews was able to beat Ilya Bryzgalov through the legs in the shootout, and Sharp followed with a shot that beat the goaltender stick side.

    Nikolai Khabibulin saved both Phoenix attempts, including a great glove save off Peter Mueller to secure the win.

  • Bryan McCabe scored twice and David Booth also tallied in regulation for the Panthers, who have won three of their last four games overall. Tomas Vokoun allowed three goals on 52 shots in the win. Vokoun made 15 saves in the first period and 20 more in the second.

    Radim Vrbata, Steve Eminger and Evgeny Artyukhin scored for the Lightning, who have lost in a shootout in both of their first two games under interim head coach Rick Tocchet. Barry Melrose, a former coach turned hockey television personality for over a decade, returned to the bench this season but was fired on Friday after a 5-7-4 start.

  • Shawn Horcoff had a goal and two assists, while Andrew Cogliano, Sheldon Souray, Lubomir Visnovsky and Tom Gilbert each scored and added a helper for Edmonton, which came in having four combined goals during its recent three- game slide.

    "[Roloson] was really on top of his game and when your goalie outplays the other guy, it's normally a pretty good indication of the result," Oilers head coach Craig MacTavish said.

  • After the overtime session ended with the score knotted 1-1, Petr Sykora's backhand was gloved down by Backstrom to start the shootout.

    Zidlicky followed by faking backhand, then drifted to his right before sliding a forehand shot around Dany Sabourin.

  • Sergei Samsonov also scored for Carolina, which has won two straight following a three-game skid. The Hurricanes remain at home for two more contests in this four-game homestand which will continue on Friday against Phoenix.

    Robert Lang scored the only goal for Montreal, which has dropped three of its last four games. Carey Price was tremendous between the pipes with 46 saves in defeat.

  • Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues claimed forward B.J. Crombeen on waivers from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

    Crombeen, 23, has appeared in 15 games with Dallas this season and has one goal and four assists along with 26 penalty minutes.

  • After dropping five of eight versus the Avalanche last year, including a split of four games in Calgary, the Flames have already beaten Colorado twice this year.

    That includes a 5-4 win on October 14 and a 3-0 blanking two weeks later on the 28th. Both of those tests were also in Calgary, as the clubs have yet to play in Denver. That first matchup at the Pepsi Center will be played on Thursday.

  • The Oilers were dealt their third straight loss Monday evening in Detroit, as the Red Wings rolled to an easy victory at Joe Louis Arena. Ty Conklin stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season, and Detroit blanked Edmonton, 4-0.

    Sheldon Souray had a team-high four shots for the Oilers, who have also dropped five of their last seven outings.

  • The Canadiens posted just their second win in six games by picking up a close victory Sunday night in St. Louis. Montreal hasn't notched consecutive triumphs since a three-game winning streak from October 28 to November 1.

    Alex Kovalev scored the lone goal of the shootout and Andrei Kostitsyn had a goal and an assist in regulation as Montreal edged the Blues, 3-2, at Scottrade Center.

  • The Penguins have posted a perfect 6-0 record in November and haven't lost since a 4-1 setback in Phoenix on October 30. The winning streak comes on the heels of a three-game slide and is the longest tear for Pittsburgh since it won eight in a row from December 23 to January 10 of last season.

    Malkin has been especially hot for the Pens, as he comes into tonight riding a 13-game point streak -- the longest current stretch in the NHL. Malkin has scored in 16 of 17 games this season and was last held without a point on October 14 against Philadelphia.

  • Chicago hits the road after a 2-1-2 homestand, a residency that ended with a 6-5 setback to San Jose on Sunday. Chicago used a string of three goals to take a 5-4 lead into the second intermission, but San Jose tied the game shortly into the final stanza before getting the winning goal late in the frame.

    Kris Versteeg netted a pair of goals for the Blackhawks, who lost the last three tests of their homestand. Brian Campbell and Cam Barker each finished with a goal and two assists in the loss, while Cristobal Huet made 25 saves.

  • Tocchet is taking over on an interim basis for Barry Melrose, who was fired just 16 games into his stint as head coach. Hired in the offseason after having not coached since the 1994-95 season, the Lightning went 5-7-4 under Melrose before he was let go last Friday.

    Tocchet's first game on the bench came in Carolina on Sunday and ended with a 3-2 shootout loss. The Hurricanes' Tuomo Ruutu and Rod Brind'Amour both beat netminder Mike Smith in the extra session, while both Vincent Lecavalier Jussi Jokinen were stopped by Cam Ward.

  • Phil Kessel, Michael Ryder and Matt Hunwick had the goals for the Bruins, who had a five-game winning streak snapped against the New York Rangers on Saturday.

    Boston was still able to register a point in that setback, though, losing in the shootout and sit atop the Northeast Division with 26 points.

  • Joey MacDonald stopped 31-of-32 shots for the Isles, who won their third straight after a three-game losing streak. Doug Weight tallied the lone regulation score for New York.

    Roberto Luongo, just recently removed from his amazing team-record shutout streak that topped 240 minutes, had 34 saves for the Canucks but let in Nielsen's score in the shootout. Pavol Demitra scored the only goal for Vancouver, which had won four of five entering play.

  • Conklin moved to 5-1-0 on the year with his fifth career shutout, while Niklas Kronwall's first-period power-play goal proved to be the game-winner for Detroit, which has gotten at least a point in six straight games. Mikael Samuelsson, Jiri Hudler and Johan Franzen also scored, while Henrik Zetterberg notched two assists in the win.

    Sheldon Souray had a team-high four shots for the Oilers, who have lost three straight and five of seven. Dwayne Roloson allowed four goals on 41 shots in defeat.
