Adam Jones was suspended indefinitely without pay by the league for an alcohol-related altercation with a personal security guard at a Dallas hotel. He was suspended at least four games for violating his reinstatement arrangement, which expected the 25-year-old to refrain from any behavior that put him, his team or the league in a negative light.

Before the season, Goodell reinstated Jones, formerly known by his nickname "Pacman," after being suspended for the entire 2007 season for off-the-field conduct.

Carlos Boozer had 20 points and 11 rebounds, but left the game in the fourth quarter with a strained left quad tendon. Ronnie Price and Andrei Kirilenko each had 16 points for the Jazz, who beat Milwaukee for the eighth straight time. Kirilenko also had seven rebounds, five steals and four blocks.

Ronnie Brewer ended with 12 points for the Jazz, winners of back-to-back games overall since a three-game skid. They are 33-1 at home since December 31, 2007.

During his career, a span of 62 games, the 30-year-old has compiled a 2-5 record with a 4.46 ERA. He had just four relief appearances last season at the major league level, but also went 5-4 with a 3.97 ERA in 43 appearances with Columbus, Washington's Triple-A affiliate.

The A's also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Ryan Webb to their 40-man roster. He's a starter in the A's minor league system and went 9-8 with a 5.19 ERA in 25 games, 22 starts, for Double-A Midland in 2008.

The Monday edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal is reporting that trainer Steve Asmussen does not expect Curlin to race again this year. Asmussen told the newspaper, "I don't see anything worthy of him," during a telephone interview.

Curlin's majority owner, Jess Jackson, released a statement over the weekend indicating that the colt will begin his stud career in 2009, but left room for one more start in 2008.
